The FED-2 is a 35mm rangefinder camera made in the Soviet Union for many decades.

It is a simple industrial chunk of solid metal that fits far better in my hand than any other camera. I took one on a whim from a British repairer who was getting rid of it. He threw in a slow, collapsible lens; it smelled like an old country, and it took perfect pictures of my wife at Dunn Brothers the first morning I had it. There's a place for modern, perfect, multi-coated, color corrected lenses and pinpoint focus: taking macro pictures of flowers. Pictures of real life don't need that. So, here's to the FED-2.
